This jersey is a classic from Albany, New York and features a beautifully embroidered version of one of the most unique minor league hockey logos of all time.

The Albany River Rats™ took the ice for the first time for the 1993-94 season, initially affiliated with New Jersey and had lots of pro players come through their ranks because of it. Their first head coach was Robbie Ftorek and other NHLers spent considerable time there including Patrick Elias, Zack Parise, Brian Gionta, Mike Dunham, and many others. They hit the ground running and won 38 games in their first season and 46 in their second. Their second season also saw them post the best record in the AHL en route to a Calder Cup win over Fredericton in a four game sweep. The River Rats would have continued success throughout the 1990s, making the playoffs each of their first seven seasons.

This is a classic 1990s River Rats replica jersey, consistent with the style of their jerseys during their initial years and championship season. These officially licensed jerseys are available exclusively at Vintage Ice Hockey for a limited time!

The River Rats played 17 seasons in Albany starting in 1993 and won the 1995 Calder Cup under Robbie Ftorek. Patrik Elias, John Madden and Brian Gionta came through on the way to New Jersey, and in 2008 Michael Leighton made 98 saves in a five-overtime playoff loss, then the longest game in AHL history.
