Pittsburgh Phantoms

Penguins owner Howard Baldwin started the Phantoms as a summer team at the Civic Arena in 1994, with Rick Kehoe coaching and newly retired Bryan Trottier playing nine games. That July, Erin Whitten started in goal against Manon Rhéaume in pro hockey's first game with women in net for both teams, and in August the arena's famous roof was opened mid-game.
