Who Were the "Bad Boys of Hockey"?

Danbury Trashers 2004–2006 — the two-season team that became hockey legend — photo 1 of 10

2004: a Connecticut garbage magnate bought a UHL expansion franchise for Danbury — launched April 1st, everyone thought it was a joke — photo 2 of 10

He handed hockey operations to his son — A.J. Galante was 17 years old — photo 3 of 10

A.J. was a wrestling fan and that became the team's DNA — heroes and villains, the Bad Boys — photo 4 of 10

The slogan: Bad Boys Talkin' Trash. Entrance music: Welcome to the Jungle. First season: 2,776 penalty minutes — a UHL record — photo 6 of 10

And they were actually good — Brent Gretzky, Jim Duhart, Stanley Cup winner Mike Rupp — photo 7 of 10

Section 102: in a triple-overtime playoff game the Trashers ran out of dry undershirts, so the fans gave them their own — Danbury won 3–2 — photo 8 of 10

June 2006: a federal investigation ended the most unhinged team in hockey history — A.J. was never charged — photo 9 of 10

Two seasons, one Colonial Cup finals — twenty years later, Danbury still hasn't let go. Keep repping the Bad Boys — photo 10 of 10

The Danbury Trashers are hockey's wildest story — a UHL team run by a 17-year-old GM, owned by a waste management exec with ties to the Genovese crime family, playing out of Danbury, Connecticut from 2004 to 2006. The brawling, the chaos, the Netflix documentary 'Untold: Crime and Penalties' that made them legends. The Trashers played with reckless intensity you can't script. If you know, you know — and if you don't, you're about to find out.

Officially licensed mesh hockey shorts in Danbury Trashers graphics, tied off with a hockey-lace drawstring at the waist. Lightweight, breathable polyester for summer pickup, the gym and the beach.
